Electronic systems are becoming more and more part of our lives as they are now being found in more devices than ever. In your smartphone, laptop, microwave and so on, an electronic system can be either comprehensive or simple. When it comes to your Chrysler or any vehicle for that matter it is a comprehensive one. But what kind of electronic system does my vehicle have? What is known as drive-by-wire is made of a total of three systems which help make handling the vehicle a lot more intuitive.

A drive-by-wire system of fly-by-wire as it is also known uses electric impulses instead of cables and hydraulics in order to move certain components. Usually, these components are found in the engine or near it but some are found on the wheels such as the brakes. The majority of newer vehicles come with this system and the same goes for Chrysler vehicles. An older models car is highly unlikely to have a drive-by-wire system, but it is not impossible to add such a system to it. This can be done with the help of a small device known as a throttle controller.

Although you're not getting the comprehensiveness of a drive-by-wire system a throttle controller works the same as one. The use of electrical impulses is at the core of a Chrysler 200 electronic throttle control. Except with a throttle controller usually, you don't get the additional features such as steer and brake-by-wire. But you can opt-in if you want the full drive-by-wire experience. Once you've found the throttle controller that works best with your Chrysler, it is time to install it. Unless it's already been installed by an employee. This is not a complicated upgrade as all it takes is locating harnesses and plugging them correctly.

1. Your first step will be to turn off your Chrysler and park it on a flat surface. Locate the factory harness for the accelerator and unplug it. Then, get the plug of your throttle controller and connect it to the harness on the accelerator pedal.

2. Next, plug the factory cable into the socket of the throttle controller's piggyback adaptor. After that, get some mounting tape and mount the small device onto the dashboard wherever it suits you best and you're done.

As we already mentioned throttle controllers are quite beneficial for your Chrysler but they can be bad for your vehicle if you don't get a proper one. This is especially the case with knockoff devices. While some may just sit there and not do anything at all, others can actually do more harm. All in all throttle controllers are a piece of great aftermarket accessories that can make handling your Chrysler a lot easier and a lot more economical but only when you get the right one.
