Beginner's Guide to Installing a Throttle Controller on Mitsubishi Pajero

People that love the outdoors, love to explore the wild and unknown areas of nature untouched by us humans. Well for this you definitely need something to help you get there with all the necessary gear and equipment. For this, you need a big enough vehicle with lots of storage space such as Mitsubishi's Pajero. The Pajero is a simple vehicle but also a rugged one which means it can get you anywhere without a hitch.

Mitsubishi vehicles are reliable as is the case with most Japanese car manufacturers and the Pajero is the perfect example of such a vehicle. The Pajero is a good value for money vehicle which has a great street presence and you only need to perform very little maintenance in order to keep your Pajero running for long. This includes installing some accessories such as a Mitsubishi throttle controller.

Benefits of Installing a Throttle Controller

Response

As time goes by every vehicle's response goes down meaning it is not as snappy as it used to be. This is the case with Pajeros too especially when it comes to throttle response. What is known as throttle lag can easily be solved with a proper Pajero throttle controller. Throttle controllers help eliminate that lag by optimizing the response of your Pajero's throttle body system.

Performance

With no lag to make you feel like you're driving a Beetle from the 70s, you can expect your Pajero to have better performance than it did before. By having a better throttle response you get to accelerate quicker as the pedal reacts faster than usual. This of course means an increase in fuel consumption but you can avoid even that.

Efficiency

While better performance is going to be preferred on a vehicle such as the Pajero, fuel efficiency should not be overlooked either. By choosing the right mode and setting up your Pajero throttle controller correctly you can get a bit of both - performance and efficiency. If you want you can also go all-in on fuel efficiency so you get to spend a lot less on petrol.

How to Install a Throttle Controller on Your Pajero

1. Although installing a Mitsubishi throttle controller might seem like hard work, in fact, it is quite the contrary. There is no performance upgrade that is as easy to set up and install as a throttle controller. The first thing you need to do though is to find the original connector that plugs in at the back of the accelerator pedal.

2. Once you've done that, unplug the connector and in its place plug in the connector that came with the throttle controller. Next, you'll plug the original connector into the back of the connector that you just plugged in.

3. With that all that is left to do is to attach the throttle controller somewhere on the dashboard. This location is purely a personal choice but do keep in mind that you shouldn't have the device in the way of other controls and switches.

4. You should also keep the cable that goes from the controller to the accelerator out of the way. In this case, it's best to route the cable through the steering column so you don't end up disconnecting the controller all the time.

5. Once you've neatly ran the cable through the steering column and found a place to put your controller, get some double-sided tape and put the controller in the desired place on the dashboard. Turn the controller on by turning on your Pajero and set it up according to the instruction manual provided by the manufacturer of the controller.

Throttle Controller Options

Simple

Although the task of a throttle controller may seem like a simple one, it actually isn't. There is a lot going on which is why there are different types of controllers, depending on what they can do. For example, basic or simple throttle controllers are made to only improve throttle lag, fuel efficiency and performance. They can offer the user to make adjustments to certain parameters and aces to some modes but that's about it. You may also find basic throttle controllers that allow you to make a made of your own but they are not that common.

Advanced

If you want to make a mode or multiple modes on your Mitsubishi throttle controller then you should consider going with an advanced one. Also known as programmers, advanced throttle controllers allow you to change more parameters and create usually a certain number of modes. Some throttle controllers allow you to make an unlimited number of modes but there's not that many of them.

Advanced throttle controllers can also display information on their screens such as the amount of fuel you'll use and how much fuel you can save whilst being in a certain mode. While these are all cool features at the end of the day both types of controllers will do the same thing. It's up to you how much you want to pay for one.
